You see, the previous summer we had spent weekends off duty swimming and sun bathing on Hayling Island a holiday spot then empty of visitors just outside Portsmouth Harbour. We noticed huge concrete structures in the sea “around the corner” from our swimming beach. We assumed they were to be part of some future extension of the harbour.
I know some people are lucky and they seem to be able to have dogs and chooks free ranging together but maybe they are small dogs? I have read many blogs where dogs and chooks co habitate but can remember what types of dogs they usually are. I do feel very sorry for your nightmarish situation. I know these girls aren pets like our last beautiful girls but we still don want anything to happen to them.

I was sent to Londonderry to join a newly commissioned frigate, HMS Narbrough of some 1600 tons, which had been loaned to us by the USA for the duration of the war. Unlike the elderly destroyers which had been loaned earlier in the war, Narbrough was brand new and quite well equipped, so that I had a cabin to myself and a bunk instead of a hammock. Narbrough and all her sister ships were named after Lord Nelson’s captains and somewhere in the house I have a small framed aerial photograph of her.
